Nizza Monferrato, Asti

Serene apartments in the historic centre: walk to restaurants and shops, jump in the car for wine tasting and truffle hunting

7 places

Sleeping from 2 – 6

The renovation has been done with much love and attention to detail by Silvia, and the apartments feel peaceful and private. Silvia or her son Daniele will show you around and they leave you a welcome basket of wine, coffee and local produce. The building dates from the early 1700s and was once the rectory for the church across the road, hence the name. There’s a shared terrace overlooking the inner courtyard that’s lovely for morning coffee or a picnic – or a meal brought to you from the restaurant across the road.Walk out for plenty of places to eat – Silvia can make recommendations and bookings – and the town is famous for its antique market on the third Sunday of the month. There are walking and biking trails for all levels in the surrounding countryside, as well as vineyards and grappa distilleries, and truffles in the autumn.

The neighbourhood

The apartments are surrounded by small shops and houses and are close to a bank, supermarket and pharmacy. Piedmont is famous for its food and wine, and Nizza Monferrato doesn’t disappoint: Silvia’s family own the restaurant across the road and they’ll deliver if you feel like eating at home, or you’ll find plenty of excellent restaurants and cafes nearby. The nearest vineyard is a ten-minute drive, and if you visit in autumn you can go truffle hunting.

Local points of interest from Silvia Bisoglio

  • You are in the middle of Monferrato country, now Unesco place
  • You are in the most important winery area in the Monferrato/Langhe for barbera wine
  • In autumn is possible to look for truffle with the dog in the night
  • In summer we can fly by elicopter over our vineyards
  • Nizza Monferrato is the most beautiful city of Monferrato, Unesco place now
  • In spring and summer we can arrange pic nics in the vineyards around Nizza with wine tasting directly at wineries

Silvia Bisoglio

Silvia, who was born and bred in Nizza Monferrato, is married with three grown up sons, two of whom work within the family businesses. When her family started running the restaurant across the road, Ristorante Tantì, she would daydream about bringing the rectory, now abandoned, back to life. After she managed to buy it she spent 15 months on renovations and jokes that it's her fourth baby.
