The Experience
Bedrooms, apart from the suite, are all on the top floor, so well away from the buzz of the bar. Help yourselves to tea, coffee, biscuits and cereals from Reggie’s; you’ve got your own private mini-bar, or pop into the amnesty bar for afternoon cocktails or a late night tipple. The feel is very relaxed, staff are incredibly friendly and the idea is that guests feel like one big family. Breakfast is continental with meats and cheeses, fresh pastries, delicious smoothies or, for those in need, a strong Bloody Mary.
At the bar you’re served local craft beers and fine wines while admiring the beautiful stained glass windows and having a look at the menu. This is seasonal and ever-evolving with lots of Kent produce and plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, alongside meat and fish which supports British farmers and artisan producers.
There’s a Zen Den for yoga or meditation and it’s a three-minute walk to the sea.

Location
The neighbourhood
Margate is a colourful, coastal town and you're in the thick of it here. The pub is opposite Love Lane and King Street, two of the main lanes in town and filled with cool shops and cafés. Fun to sit out here and people watch on a sunny day. It's a five-minute stroll to the beach and the famous Turner Contemporary – look out for one of Antony Gormley's cast-iron figures staring out to sea.
Local points of interest from Kelly Love & Dan Williams
- The George & Heart is one of the oldest hotels in Margate, dating back to the 18th century.
- You’re a 5-minute stroll from the glorious Kent coast. Explore Margate rich art scene, join a paddle boarding class, visit the mysterious Shell Grotto, or simply watch the world go by with fresh seafood and bubbles on the harbour arm.
- Margate's bustling old town is just a stones throw from the Hotel, where you will find curious shops, vintage clothes and art; as well as great places to eat and drink.
- For the nature lovers, take a ride or walk along Kents famous Viking Trail and explore what the coastline has to offer. Take a 10 minute walk to Wapole Bay tidal pool and join the locals for a fresh early morning wild swim.

Introducing
Kelly Love & Dan Williams
Kelly and Dan took over and completely renovated the inn in 2019. They have restored it in a way that is as loving and sympathetic as possible, whilst also being mindful of their impact – so much of the furniture is second hand or antique. You can feel that the local community love coming here for food or a pint; it really does feel like a local (but in a busy town!). They have superb young staff.
The George and Heart perfectly reflects the quirky, arty and independent nature of Margate - and I loved staying in the 'Poodle & Blonde' room with it's loud wallpaper and retro feel. You're perfectly placed for strolling out to explore all Margate has to offer - independent shops, galleries and the beach are all right on your doorstep. The chef cooks up a great menu here too.
