The Experience
This much-loved family home is full of country charm and has everything you need for big gatherings. There are fireside nooks for readers, a big table in the Aga-warmed kitchen, a piano in the hall and a studio for table tennis or yoga, even a gym.
In the roomy country kitchen you’ll find old flagstones and an inglenook, all the kit you need, a welcome loaf of sourdough bread, Lubborn honey and cosy leather armchairs for a post-prandial tipple. The elegant dining room seats 14 comfortably – ask about hiring a chef for a celebration.
Bedrooms are spacious and private, four with en suite bathrooms, one double next to a single for a family. All have views over the gardens on either side of the house. Children and dogs will love to romp around the safe gardens, there’s plenty of space for badminton and boules and lovely walks in every direction.

Location
The neighbourhood
A quiet tree-lined lane winds from the village to the house. Walks are sublime. Glastonbury is a 13-min drive, with quirky shops, the Tor to climb, cafes, restaurants and regular farmers’ markets. Historic Wells – the UK's smallest cathedral city is half an hour away
Local points of interest from Amanda & Jeremy
- Lubborn House is set in 9 acres of mature grounds with a walled garden, wide terraces for outdoor dining, huge fire pit, large lawns, fields with sheep, woodland, stream and the ruins of an old farmhouse.
- Living around us are families of jackdaws, starlings, robins, green woodpeckers, butterflies and dragonflies, pheasant, badger and squirrel. There are deer in the wood, glow worms in the lane and, occasionally, the wonderful white owl looks in.
- There are walks in all directions from the house: on a village heritage trail, through orchards and fields, to a well-equipped play park, and along the River Brue, where there's wild swimming and fishing. And quiet country lanes make it great for cycling.
- We're in food country. In our village alone are producers of milk, eggs, butter, cheese, pork, cider, wine, chocolates and honey. (We'll give you a pot of Lubborn Honey when you arrive.) Local restaurants show real flare with these freshest of ingredients.
- In 5 miles is Glastonbury, arguably one of the UK's quirkiest towns, with its Tor, Abbey, Chalice Well spring, Arthurian legends and alternative lifestyles. Also within 5 miles at Street is the Greenbanks swimming pool and Clarks Village outlet shopping.
- Within 30 mins are the Fleet Air Arm Museum, City of Wells, Haynes Car Museum, Muchelney Abbey, Bruton, Houser & Wirth, Wookey Hole caves and The Newt. While a little further are Frome, Cheddar Gorge, Stourhead, Longleat and the Jurassic Coast.

Introducing
Amanda & Jeremy
Jeremy and Amanda are chatty and warm; passionate about the house, its history and the local community. After living and working overseas they settled here in Lubborn house, where they raised their family. They now live in the neighbouring cottage, with their two dogs, and are on hand for anything you need, but won’t intrude.
Stunning countryside escape, surrounded by greenery, woodlands and fields. Great spot for large family gatherings or friends celebration. Almost 10 acres of land will allow you to immerse yourself in the location, go for nature walks, or just relax in the gardens. Amanda and Jeremy are also wonderful and warm hosts, welcoming all their guests with open arms.
