Garden Cottage at Ganthorpe Hall

Garden Cottage is spacious, bright and warm, even without using the wood-burning stove. It is tastefully decorated, and all the kitchen equipment is top quality, even down to the tin-opener. It is dog-friendly and there are country walks through the Howardian Hills starting from the front door.. The whole stay was a superb experience.

This charming place is located just a short drive away from neighbouring villages and towns, including the lovely castle Howard. The cottage was clean and had all the amenities you'd need to stay comfortable plus more. The self-contained kitchen space was a great addition, given that most shops and cafes close early around the area. We never went hungry because of it. Kitty provided plenty of information and guides to manage your stay while there and was always available if more help was needed. A true gem in the area!

We had a great stay! Very comfortable cottage with everything you need. The kitchen was really well equipped for cooking, the bedding and linen were fab and the shower pressure was great. Really comfortable and spacious for two, especially if your aim is to unwind and switch off.

Garden cottage is a lovely and peaceful retreat. The hosts are friendly, respectful and responsive and the cottage itself is clearly a labour of love. I would not hesitate to stay again, and would highly recommend Garden cottage to friends and family.

Opened the door and immediately said 'isn't this LOVELY?'. Kitty has beautifully designed the cottage which is as pretty as the photos, and beautifully functional too. It suited us perfectly for an all-too-brief stay - need more time to sit out in the pretty garden, light the woodburner, read the books or write a novel - it's that sort of place.

The Cottage is a homely countryside retreat for two, who can enjoy the open-plan feel of the living, dining and kitchen area, whilst keeping cosy in front of the wood burner. Guests can enjoy stunning views from the peaceful garden, take country walks from the doorstep or explore nearby Castle Howard & the Yorkshire Arboretum. Plus good pubs and restaurants to eat in Malton, York and Helmsley.

Just as described! This is a beautiful piece of the world with stunning views and uninterrupted tranquility. Drivable to many cool local attractions with great walks locally. Ideal to sit and relax. Kitty is very proactive and thoughtful, even helped us out when our car got a flat. Can't recommend enough, thank you!!!

Lovely cottage with beautiful views from the small but private garden. Clean and comfortable with everything that we needed. Kitty was very helpful in giving recommendations for local eating places and places to visit. The cottage is in good location for exploring the area, and within easy reach of York. We had a very enjoyable holiday.

Loved this place. Such a beautiful private little oasis to come back to after exploring all day. Everything we needed, warm and cosy and super functional kitchen for a small space.

I can't talk highly enough of Gardens cottage or Kitty and Amadeus as lovely hosts. I booked based on the 5* reviews, beautiful looking photos and detailed description as well as the peaceful and secluded location. Quite honestly it exceeded all expectations! The cottage has been renovated beautifully and has such a homely and warm feeling. The patio is private and has the most beautiful view. The attention to detail is second to none and Kitty has equipped the cottage with beautiful furniture. The paintings are all by Kitty's grandfather. There are lots of walks close by for all levels.

This was our 3rd time staying at Ganthorpe and it was just as beautiful as before. Kitty is an amazing host very friendly, welcoming and helpful as always. Kitty always makes us feel at home and welcome which makes our stay so much more enjoyable. Thank you again for hosting us Kitty and Amadeus x
