The Experience

Arrive to find an enchanting stone farmhouse and barn from the 1800s, with a traditional tiled roof and dormer windows. You stay in the barn, divided into two spaces and connected via a door in the living rooms – super for multi-generational groups or those wanting privacy. Inside, the two living rooms are airy and well-equipped kitchens are immaculate – you’ll find bread, wine, juice and walnuts from the garden for your arrival. Slopey-ceilinged bedrooms are spacious and warm. A balcony runs along the entire west side so you can catch the evening sun.

Head to stunning hilltop Najac (16km) for its medieval streets, castle, restaurants and weekly night markets; climb, swim and kayak in the Aveyron Gorges.

Come home to table tennis and board games, barbecues by the pool… spot golden orioles, woodpeckers, hoopoes, owls and tiny pipistrelle bats. Surrounded by oaks, walnut trees and grassy sloped terrain, it’s as peaceful as can be.

Reviews

La Riviere was a perfect spot for our family reunion. Fabulous, spacious, characterful accommodation, great pool, and endless activities for young and old alike. We really appreciated all the thought and care that had gone into creating such a comfortable and beautiful house and we loved the peace of the deep French countryside. What a rare find. Thank you Brian and Mary for making our stay so special.

Fantastic!

What a magical place, full of romantic french countryside and charm along with beautifully considered spaces to rest, play and explore. Can't rate this highly enough!

This is a lovely part of the world. We stayed for a few days in April. The accommodation was spacious and very comfortably furnished. It was furnished in a true French style. The bedrooms were large and each had its own very well appointed bathroom. Brian and Mary, the hosts, are delightful and full of gos ideas for places to visit easily. It is a great family venue as there are two units that can be opened to house a group of family or friends giving the opportunity for privacy if you want it. The swimming pool has a lovely setting and lots of space for loungers and children’s play. Fabulous

We had an amazing stay at Mary and Brian’s place. The barn conversion has been done with extremely good taste and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The balcony/outside space is fabulous for spending time either from enjoying meals or an aperitif at sunset overlooking the rolling green hills of the area. Our hosts were very informative with information of where to go and visit for day trips and places to eat out at. For us this was a hidden gem and the whole area was some of the most stunning countryside in France that we have never visited before. We will be back to explore.

This beautifully renovated barn with all modern comforts is suitable for 1 group or 2 groups holidaying together. Hidden in the rolling landscape of Aveyron with no neighbours and surrounded by oak and walnut trees there is no better place to unwind and recharge your batteries. Once recharged there is plenty to do and see within a 30 minutes drive. An ideal choice for a perfect holiday!

Rose, Sawday's Inspector

An amazing property! We were welcomed by our hosts Brian and Mary who could not have done more for us, providing a starter pack of essentials in the fridge. The accommodation was spacious and beautifully decorated with many nice touches. A high light was the big balcony running the full length of the barn. It was a delight to sit out and enjoy the sun with a glass of wine in the evening. Though starting to cool down we were able to use the swimming pool, which is a good size. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

Valerie, Surbiton

We spent a beautiful week here with friends and it was nothing short of amazing. These houses are so tastefully done, in the middle of French rural paradise and have everything you need to keep a family entertained. We loved the interconnecting houses with plenty of space, bathrooms, kitchens etc for two families. We enjoyed day trips - went lake swimming, visited nearby markets and scenic French villages - but honestly our favourite days were spent by the pool, playing games in the cool basement and dining out on the deck with that view. Have already booked a return trip :)

Could not have asked for a better holiday. Location was perfect, 12 hours drive from home! Close to beautiful towns to explore with lots of family activities nearby. Supermarkets easy to get to. Accommodation was outstanding, everything a family could possibly need for comfort, fun and relaxation. Made such wonderful memories and cannot recommend highly enough!

Desire, Fleet Hampshire

This place is truly magical! The house is beautifully renovated with everything you need. The children loved the pool, games room and outside fields and we loved our evenings relaxing on the balcony watching the bats, listening to the owls and enjoying french cheese and wine! There were so many places to visit, including Najac, Belle castle and Cordes; all recommended to us by the wonderfully helpful hosts. The children also did horse riding whilst we were there, played on giant inflatables in the river at Lagupie, pottery, kayaking and Go ape which are all very close by. Cant wait to return!
